Request for Compensation for Accidents in Andorra Caused by a Foreign Vehicle

Request for Compensation for Accidents in Andorra Caused by a Foreign Vehicle

In the event of an accident in the Principality of Andorra caused by a foreign-registered vehicle, please contact the Andorran Bureau.

You can use the Report an Accident Form available on this website, providing any relevant information to expedite the processing of your claim.

Report an Accident Form

To request compensation for any damages or losses suffered, a formal request must be sent to: Andorran Bureau – Carrer Maria Pla, 33 3 3a – AD500 Andorra la Vella by certified letter with acknowledgement of receipt or alternatively via email to: bureau@bureauandorra.com (if you send an email, there is no need for a certified letter) including any useful information to speed up the processing of your claim.

You can also use the form available on this website:

The following information is required:

  • Date and location of the accident.
  • Nationality and registration of the foreign vehicle.
  • Description of the foreign vehicle.
  • Type of vehicle (car, lorry, articulated lorry, motorcycle, etc.).
  • Make and model (e.g. Fiat Punto, Opel Astra, Renault Clio, Volkswagen Golf, etc.).
  • Brief description of the accident.
  • Copy of the Accident Report Form (DAA).
  • Contact details of the authorities who intervened after the accident (police, traffic agents, firefighters, etc.), with the exact command unit and their location.

The following information, if available, is also highly useful to process the request quickly:

  • Name of the insurance company of the foreign vehicle.
  • Full name and address of the owner of the foreign vehicle.
  • Full name and address of the driver of the foreign vehicle.
  • Copy of the Green Card shown by the driver of the foreign vehicle.
  • Copy of any documents provided by the foreign driver.

For a faster response, please include an email address.

Once the request has been received, the Andorran Bureau will inform you of the entity designated by the foreign insurance company who will manage your claim and any subsequent actions. This entity will, if necessary, arrange for an expert to assess the damage, evaluate liability and make an offer or provide reasons for the rejection of your claim.

If the information provided in your compensation request does not clearly identify the insurance company of the foreign vehicle, the Andorran Bureau will conduct investigations in the country of alleged registration of the vehicle to identify the insurer or verify the possibility of their involvement.

These investigations are carried out by the Andorran Bureau in collaboration with the foreign National Bureau of the country where the foreign vehicle is registered. The rules governing relations between Bureaux set a 6-week deadline for a response, although the Andorran Bureau will work to obtain a response as soon as possible.

For this reason, it is in the interest of the claimant to include all relevant information in the initial compensation request and attach any documents provided by the foreign driver.

The legal time frame for making an offer or justifying a denial, with appropriate reasoning, is 3 months.

Please note that the Andorran Bureau does NOT handle accidents that occur in Andorra involving the liability of a vehicle with an Andorran registration.

The foreign driver who suffers damages caused by an Andorran vehicle should direct their request to the insurance company of the Andorran vehicle and not to the Andorran Bureau.
