Accidents Abroad

In the event of an accident in a foreign country caused by a vehicle registered in the same country, the request for compensation must be sent to the insurer and/or owner of the foreign vehicle. (Example: an accident in Spain caused by a vehicle registered in Spain; the request must be addressed to the insurer in Spain and/or to the owner of the vehicle). It is advisable to find out the legal requirements of the country or, better yet, contact the Andorran embassy or consulate in that country.

In the event of an accident abroad, DO NOT request compensation from the Andorran Bureau because it is not responsible for handling these cases.

However, if the vehicle that caused the accident is registered in a different country from where the accident occurred, the compensation request must be sent to the National Bureau of the country where the accident happened, provided it occurred in a country within the Green Card System. (Example: an accident in Morocco caused by a vehicle registered in Tunisia; the request for compensation must be sent to the Moroccan Bureau). For the contact details of the insurance companies and National Bureaux of the Green Card System, please visit the website of the Council of Bureaux.
