Motor Third Party Liability Insurance is a mandatory insurance required when the owner or driver of a vehicle causes damage to third parties and is held responsible in accordance with applicable legislation.
Compensation to the affected party is provided by the insurance company with which the liable party holds an insurance policy. This insurance guarantees that the affected party's claims are resolved.
In Andorra, as in most European countries, this insurance is mandatory.
In accordance with current legislation, all owners of motor vehicles registered in Andorra must hold a Motor Third Party Liability Insurance policy, regardless of whether the vehicle is in use.
This insurance covers accidents within the Principality of Andorra, as well as accidents in countries whose National Bureaux are signatories of the Multilateral Agreement (including the European Economic countries, as well as Andorra, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Switzerland and the United Kingdom).
Mandatory Motor Third Party Liability Insurance is valid for a period of 12 months. Exceptions to this rule are provided for in current legislation.
